Sometimes children in foster care react to situations in a variety of ways. The TV show Brothers & Sisters has been showing Scotty and Kevin (a gay couple) in the process of adopting through foster care. In a recent episode there was a situation with their future adoptive daughter. Knowing that emotions run deep on all ends of the spectrum (children, foster parents and biological parents).. how would react to the following (we will discuss my reaction in a Part Duex):
P.S. if you're interested in becoming Foster Parents or adopting through the Foster Care system, the most recent episodes of Brother & Sisters are doing a great job of portraying a true version of what can and most likely will happen.
I don't watch B&S but now on Desperate House wifes, the gay couple is adopting a 10 yr old girl from an orphanage... I'm interested to see what the plot line is like.
ReplyDeleteI think for every show that does it, (and there have been a TON lately) it just brings a tiny shred of awareness to the general public.
The experience is pretty indescribable to people that haven't been through it. You can not prepare yourself for the behaviors and other things that come along with the process!
